This is a gearbox I designed for UNSW Bluesat’s rover. The gearbox is a 14:1 outrunner, although its not outrunning in this video for demonstration purposes. In the final version the 6 roller will be fixed in place which will force the outside to rotate thus making it an outrunner and by extension an in-hub gearbox and motor. The entire thing is manufactured by aluminium as it needs to hold a quarter of the robots weight while transmitting large amounts of torque to navigate the rough terrain. Thanks goes to Alex Foster and Ruben Stones of Bluesat UNSW for the manufacture and assembly of the gearbox.
